Welcome to the Rotary Club of Belgrave
Belgrave Rotary has a proud history of assisting the local hills community since 1954.
Celebrating our 70th birthday in 2024, was a significant milestone for any community group.
Over the years our members have enjoyed the many and varied local community projects with great success.
Our focus and purpose is to also create strong relationships with other community groups, schools, charity organisations, council, state and federal government and people from our community. The Rotary Club of Belgrave is a vibrant, community-driven group of individuals united by a shared commitment to service, leadership, and friendship. As part of Rotary International, we work locally and globally to improve lives through meaningful projects and initiatives.
We’re passionate about making a difference—whether supporting local causes, promoting international peace, advancing education, or protecting the environment. Our core values of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership guide everything we do.
While we’re serious about creating change, we also value fun and connection. Our club enjoys regular social events like dinners, day trips, theatre nights, trivia, and more—building friendships along the way.
Rotary welcomes people from all backgrounds who are ready to make an impact. If you want to join or learn more, contact James Gillard at [email protected] or 0418 341 260.
Together as a community, we can build a better future—one project at a time.

We’re currently forming the
Foothills of the Dandenong Ranges Rotaract Club – and we’re looking for passionate young people to be part of it from the very beginning.
If you’re aged 18–30 and want to:
✔ Meet new people and build genuine friendships
✔ Get involved in local community projects
✔ Build leadership and career skills
✔ Be part of something meaningful in the Hills
…we’d love to connect with you.
We’re already holding fortnightly catch-ups on Monday nights, where a small group is coming together to share ideas, shape the direction of the club, and build something exciting for the community.
👉 There’s no pressure or commitment at this stage — just come along, meet the group, and see if it’s for you.
This new club is proudly supported by the Rotary Clubs of Belgrave and Ferntree Gully, and will be shaped by its founding members.
Be part of the founding group. Help shape the future.

The Rotary Club in Belgrave welcomed Star Mail journalist Tanya Steele as a special guest speaker recently at their regular meeting in Ferntree Gully.
“It was great to chat with the Rotary members at the bowling club,” said Ms Steele
The Star mail reporter for the Ranges area did a presentation for people attending the event and over Zoom, uniting clubs across the region for a mini-chat on local news.
Sunday 15th June, members of the Rotary Club of Belgrave and the Rotary Club of Monbulk & District gathered for a joint Presidential Changeover Lunch at the stunning Chateau Wyuna.
We are proud to welcome James Gillard as the incoming President of the Rotary Club of Belgrave, and Rob Clark and Peter Hayne as Co-Presidents of the Rotary Club of Monbulk & District for the 2025–2026 Rotary year.
A highlight of the day was seeing President James Gillard receive the Club’s Bronze Excellence Award, presented by District Governor Colin Byron, in recognition of outstanding leadership and commitment to building a strong, thriving club.
The event was a wonderful celebration of Rotary fellowship and service, as we acknowledged the achievements of the past year and embraced the opportunities ahead.
Here’s to another inspiring year of making a difference in our communities!

Thursday 8 May, the Rotary Club of Belgrave proudly hosted our first Hills Business Connections Breakfast of the year – bringing together local business owners from across the Yarra Ranges for a morning of networking, learning, and community spirit.
Held over a hearty cooked breakfast, the event featured a fantastic keynote from Montrose-based business coach Keith Collins, who shared valuable insights for small business success. With attendees ranging from café owners to accountants, the energy in the room reflected the strength and potential of our local business community.
We thank Cr Jeff Marriott for officially opening the event, and extend our gratitude to sponsors Insurance Made Easy, Rozult Computers, and Mark Filgate from Tin Pan Alley, Upwey, for helping make the morning a success.
This breakfast marks the beginning of a regular series aimed at supporting and connecting Hills businesses. We’re excited to announce our next event on Thursday 14 August, featuring guest speaker Tanya Lacy from Intercept Experience.
If you’re a local business owner, we’d love you to join us — connect, learn, and grow with your community.

A Walk in the Park 2025 is over for another year
Thank you so much to all participants and fundraisers for making the day such a success.
With 1,800 participants (including President James Gillard) and over $215,000 raised, we could not have done it without the support of the Parkinson’s community.

Report from Robin Yamaguchi – Family Care Uganda
Subject: Arrival of RACHEL Device Donated by Rotary Club of Belgrave, Date: April 2025
We are thrilled to share the exciting news that the RACHEL (Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning) device has safely arrived in Uganda! This remarkable educational tool, made possible through the donation from the Rotary Club of Belgrave.
The arrival of the RACHEL has allowed us to begin setting up the infrastructure needed to protect and support its use, including dedicated tables, braces, and secure enclosures for the laptops. We are also working on establishing a strong local network to ensure smooth and uninterrupted access to the educational content.
In addition, we have developed a training plan for our teaching staff. They will return to the school several days before the students to undergo hands-on training on how to use RACHEL effectively in their classrooms. This will empower them to fully integrate its resources into their teaching and greatly enrich the learning experience for our students.
This development marks a major step forward in our mission to provide quality education in remote and underserved areas.
We are deeply grateful to the Rotary Club of Belgrave for your commitment to education and for making this dream a reality.
Your support is not just appreciated—it is transformative.
With heartfelt thanks,
Robin Yamaguchi
Program Director – Family Care Uganda

Rotary International focuses its humanitarian efforts on seven key areas to create sustainable, positive change both locally and globally. For the Belgrave Rotary Club, these areas guide our community service projects and partnerships:
We foster understanding and cooperation across cultures by training leaders in conflict prevention, supporting peace education, and assisting displaced communities.
Our initiatives aim to reduce the burden of diseases like polio, malaria, and HIV/AIDS through prevention, treatment, and health education, especially in vulnerable communities.
We support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. We don’t just build wells and walk away. We share our expertise with community leaders and educators to make sure our projects succeed long-term.
We expand access to quality care, so mothers and their children can live and grow stronger. Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation.
We strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate.
We carry out service projects that enhance economic and community development and create opportunities for decent and productive work for young and old. We also strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.
We support activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment.
At Belgrave Rotary, we are committed to these focus areas through hands-on projects, fundraising, and collaboration with local and international partners. If you’re passionate about making a difference in these areas, we welcome you to join us in our mission.
